Week 2 Readings

From this week's readings I learned many things about teaching strategies and how students learn. Overall, I learned that there are multiple strategies and theories that discuss how students learn and the factors that go into learning. This was most presented in Tompkins article. The article has many, many different theories and strategies regarding literature. as well as in general. What I concluded that learning is both cognitively as well as socially.

A similarity between Tompkins article and Gibbons article is that every student learns in a different way. Teachers can't generalize their students. Teachers must get to know their students and do learning assessments to see which strategy works best for them individually.

Scaffolding is also very important to the students learning. Teachers must properly scaffold the students to get them thinking on their own. This is very important skill to have because it slowly teaches the students to work and figure things out on their own so the student is not overwhelmed.

Overall, it is many factors that form a student's learning experience. Personally, I think multiple strategies need to be performed between the teacher and students to have effective learning take place.
