I think that the Instructional Models were a good way to learn about some new ideas involving teaching Language Arts. It allowed the opportunity for all of us to hone in on a particular skill in this area and then present it to the rest of the class, giving them the opportunity to see what the other groups had learned. I know that for my own groups’ topic I learned a lot about the Balanced Literacy process- in general it’s a very basic idea, but to pull it out as a specific idea and present on it was helpful, since it’s such an important concept. I think that the Instructional Models activity was helpful to give new ideas about teaching and learning, and I think that they only reinforced for me how important effective language arts teaching is, as well as that there is such a wide variety of ways to teach it.
